The management software for the device is structured to allow for different approaches to treatment.
This lesson shows how to manually input all parameters for treatment.
The series of buttons on the bottom left of the home screen are used. The procedure is the same for the handpiece and the robotic head.
From the home screen the operator can directly enter treatment parameters into area F such as Emission mode, Frequency, Time and Intensity.
The Emission mode parameter can be set to:
- CPW Continuous Pulsed Wave mode
- FPW Frequency Pulsed Wave mode
By pressing the CPW button the device switches to continuous output with no pulse frequency. The button then displays FPW. When you press that FPW button, the device switches back to FPW mode and you can change the pulse frequency of the MLS beam.
In FPW mode, the MLS pulse repetition frequency can be set from 1 to 2000 Hz at steps of 1 Hz.
Treatment time can be set from 1 second to 49 minutes and 59 s, in one second steps.
The emission intensity can be set to 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the maximum power for the handpiece and 50% and 100% for the robotic head.
Manual setting of frequency and time parameters is carried out by pressing the “+” button to increase or the “-” button to decrease.
For Frequency and Time parameters, by pressing between buttons “+” and “-” , a numerical keypad appears to allow user to directly enter the required value.
The display always shows the total energy emitted in Joules based on the settings chosen and energy delivered per square centimetre. These can be useful settings to record as part of patient records when MLS therapy is used.
This sample screen shows the handpiece parameters set to
- FPW (Frequency Pulsed Wave) mode
- Frequency 100 Hz
- Time 20 seconds
- Intensity 25% for handpiece, 50% for robotic head
- Total energy delivered 2.966 Joules (calculated by the software)
- Total energy density 0.94 J/; (calculated by the software)
